Some Advice on muscle building and buring this fat?

hi, happy new year to all





Right i currently weighing in at 180LBS (13 Stone) I鈥檝e been loosing weight all the through 2007 so i no all about dieting and what to do to loose weight, but im struggling now.





I want to slim down like a nice slim body. lots of people have been telling me that if i do cardio and then weights the fat will drop off me because muscle burns the fat quicker. I just want to loose this Fat and get a nice toned body .





So i have decided to go on a low calorie diet, and take some protein shakes, because they apparently boost your metabolism. At 4pm after college i will be going to the gym for 45 minutes doing cardio work, then at 7pm i will be going to the gym again and doing the weight machines for about 2 hours.





i think this will work in my opinion, can someone just tell me if this will work and if they have any extra ideas i can stick into my plan.

doing sit ups and pushups helps u alot


also consider taking swimming which helps all the muscles in the body do some squats with some weights and yes working out is good but try not to do it too much because i got stretch marks by doing this also eat some meat which helps gain muscle but not too much to the point that ur full.
Working cardio for 45 min and the doing two hours of weight lifting is just stupid and you will burn out within a week of doing that. Just burn more calories than you take in and do a little weight training on the side and it would be great for you.
cardio cardio cardio. The more sweat you release the more pounds you drop. Id personaly recommend a big upbeat fun cardio at home dvd like hip hop abs .....believe me you dont even feel like you working out ...or take a spansh dance class like the mamnbo or something thats fast and moves your hips..... it worked wondors for me





i was 175 and got down to 130

I'm sorry to say you won't go far with 拢500. I just bought a complete Giant XTC for 拢350 - the XTC 4.5, It was originally on for 拢500, and even that is cheap compared to what it would cost to build it yourself.





I did build a bike from scratch back in the 80's, but that was using a second hand racing frame, second hand wheels and the other parts I saved up for out of my college grant. It still cost a lot of money though.Building a bike, need advice?
As the 拢 improves bike components are becoming cheaper. However, 拢500 is not a great budget for hand building. The XTC is a nice frame, although the oversized seat post transferes a lot of vibration to the but.





However, regardless of which frame you are after, you are looking at about 拢200 for the frame. 拢200 for gears. 拢100 for chainset. 拢50 for casset. 拢50 for bar and stem. 拢300 for fox forks. 拢150 for wheels + 拢50 for tyres, 拢20 chain. 拢20 for various cables. 拢150 for disc brakes.


拢20 saddle, 拢30 for seat post.





You get the idea.





I would buy an older model XTC and upgrade that. Pay about 拢400 for an 08 model and then upgrade key components. Primarily I would shorten the stem and put an XT casset on the back. I would also dump the Kenda tyres for something faster.

you've no chance with the budget you have,you won't get a fox shock for less than 300,your deore group-set will set you back another 200 at least,you've still got to get wheels,tyres bars,stem and seat-pin,you'll need a budget of at least 1000,but good-luck trying.
Ready built will always be cheaper. But have fun anyway.
Giant XTC frame is fabulous. To stay in your budget don't buy really expensive ';less important'; parts. You can always upgrade these later. Like stem, seatpost, pedals or chain or even brakes (unless you're going disc which is worth it if you're buying a higher end disc set). Put your money into the drive train first - cassette and crank, then into shifters and brakes. What wheels are you getting? Nice wheels are a small fortune.





Are you buying used parts? Or salvaging parts from another bike? It may be difficult staying in your budget if you're intending to buy full deore with an XTC frame and good wheels.





You'd probably be better off buying an XTC bike with manufacturer components and swapping them out as you want to upgrade.
You will end up spending twice the amount that a new bike will cost. Manufactures buy parts by the truckload and for a fraction of the price it takes to buy one piece. They assemble the bike and pass the savings on to you. Get a bike that has most of the components you like and change the ones you don't like.

I use to be pretty good at building web pages about 7 years ago, but never kept up with the lastest technology. I would like to get back into doing them again and doing graphic designs too. Being out of it as long as you have, you should really brush up on XHTML and CSS. Some might suggest ASP .NET or PHP for this question but so much has changed in 7 years it's imperative you get down with XHTML and CSS first. A good book on CSS is 'Eric Meyer on CSS' and there are so much resources on the Internet about XHTML already a book really isn't required.

Right now, semantic coding is what's most important as opposed to pretty design. By that I mean using each tag in accordance to its role (ie h1 for heading as opposed to a table cell; p for paragraphs not divs; tables only for tabular data).





Another thing that everyone is aiming for, is separating style from content. Put all the styling inside an external stylesheet and use classes and ids (where needed) to apply them to the html tags.





Also, you need to keep in mind that disabled people will need to be able to read your site: color contrast, order coding, links(anchors) to navigation/content...





As for the server side scripting: ASP.NET seems to be the latest trend, however PHP is also pretty popular. You can do more with ASP.NET though.

Any advice on design/building a drywell to spare my septic from water softener + filter cleaning discharge?

My water softener and filter currently discharge (about 97 gallons each week) into my septic system. I heard this was bad for the septic. My septic service co. agreed. The water filter service said this was perfectly safe.


Septics are too expensive to risk a failure. I would like to reroute the discharge to avoid any problems. Any suggestions for a drywell design would be very helpful.

How far away from the house do I need to place the drywell?

It is only water with very minute amount of solids. If you have an acquit leak field the softener flush should not have any effect. You should listen to the water filter people. Advice needed for building a computer?

Okay so I have just decided to make a computer for gaming (sort of a split-second decision), I don't want anything high end, but enough to satisfy but recreational gaming needs (if that makes sense O.o) anyway it has been a long time since i actually built one and I am really outdated with everything lol.


I did go shopping online at shopping square where they seem to have really good deals and a awesome postage discount, but I'm not sure if this shop is to be trusted...

As far as power supply, I would say 600-650 watts should get you by just fine. I would also second Newegg.com, as of right now they also have deals on graphics cards. Second I would recommend going with a 32mb cache HD, a lil more CASH never hurt anyone (sorry for the play on words hehehe) Also look into the 4830 graphics card for casual gaming, if you dont want bragging rights (you know the ones...I got 400FPS on the new crysis game) a 4830 should suffice and save you more cash. Also check out the new AM3 boards, which support DDR3. and the new tripple core processors pack quite a punch and will also save you a bit of cash. Just built my new computer for $520 (minus case, and monitor) cuz I reused old ones

You need a real computer like an mac mini (if your poor), iMac, and the top of the line Mac Pro that owns all PCs with its mighty 32GB RAM and native 8 core processors. Deck Building Experts,,, Need Your Advice!!?

I'm building a small deck around my above ground pool. Question is this,,, when securing the beams to the posts, what is best, should I be making an ';L'; notch on either side of the post so the 2x10 beams fit on the post and level with the top of the post or should I just be bolting them to the sides of the posts so they are level with the top. Does that make sense the way I'm wording it? Please help me with this question. I'm sure if you are an experienced deck builder this question will make sense. I'd notch them for at least two reasons...when working by myself, notching the posts will enable me to do it by myself, secondly, it adds additional strength to the overall integrity of the structure. I would only make the notch about 1/2 inch deep, and then use bolts.

Everything on there looks good except your motherboard, case and HDD.





Your motherboard is pretty weak when compared to other offerings, consider an Asus board.





That case while both functional (cooling wise) and visually cool is a complete **** to build into (like parking a van in a shed)





And your HDD is overpriced, right jnow consider a traditional mechanical drive like a Samsung Spinpoint F1 or WD Caviar. Price to performance they cant be beaten. Then when SSD become more affordable get one then.I'm building computer. Give me advice on parts.?
Regarding Asus motherboards. I have had two. The first one had to be sent back for warranty twice. On the second trip, they sent back a rebuild board which contained written test results that it was working properly. Each time, weeks passed before response even with numerous phone calls. In the meantime, I had installed a second Asus board. That board in a little over 18 months had failure in the PCI slot for the video card. Okay, reinstall the first board. USB controller not functioning correctly and would not boot if anything connected to a USB port. Computer now operating with an EVGA motherboard.

You can probably get cheaper memory than OCZ, they tend to be more expensive and fancy. Unless you are into weird overclocking stuff, just get cheaper ram sticks.





Same with the Hard drive. 150GB is nothing. You can get a nice huge hard drive with 7200 rpm.





One thing. I like to separate my windows system stuff from my gaming. So you may want to use your old hard drive to put windows and such files and use the second hard drive to install the games. It helps to keep things separate.

looks ok, i would go w/a better psu though.....something name brand like corsair or antec......if your gonna sli that 530w what no-namer probably wont cut it.......also the q9300, i would look into the q9450, double the cache size, 12mb.......and easier to oc w/a multiplier of 8x vs 7.5 on the 9300......i just ordered that cpu, and a corsair tx650 psu,the 109.00 right now on newegg......good luck.......scott.
I would not go with the power supply that comes with the case!! Its not strong enough to carry the watts you are going to use. Grab a 800 watt or 850 watt supply and sell the one in your case to a friend or someone or just put it a side. I would reccomend amd to start with. the new phenom quad core is alot better with 4 rails for information to travel.

It does use the ddr 2 ram but at 1066 speed and is a bit cheaper so the money you save on the AMD system you can put towards the power supply and another video card.

Deck Building Experts,,, Need Your Advice!!?

I'm building a small deck around my above ground pool. Question is this,,, when securing the beams to the posts, what is best, should I be making an ';L'; notch on either side of the post so the 2x10 beams fit on the post and level with the top of the post or should I just be bolting them to the sides of the posts so they are level with the top. Why do all that cutting when you can take 2x4s or larger 45 one end for cosmetics slap it under the 2x10 and lag screw it and you have the same support. Take the W out of work.Deck Building Experts,,, Need Your Advice!!?
Why go to all that trouble just go and get some joist hangers they are cheap and hold really well, or you can do the sill method by running a 2x4 support board around the inside of the deck frame, just adjust it so that the top of the deck floor is at the level that you want Just don't forget to run your floor joists before the deck floor, both of these ways are very strong and will last a long time. I did the sill method on mine and it has lasted 30 years.
Make an L notch it provides much more support
You use two bolts with a beam on each side of the past with a long bolt through it all. Use 2 bolts so it holds it square and won't move. If you notch, it weakens the beam.


Bolts are lag bolts and you have a washer on each side and a nut to fasten. You get them in appropriate lengths. Check with Lowes or Home Depot to get the bolts. If you attach to the house you use brackets to attach your beam. Be sure to stagger the boards when you do the deck floor as the ends of boards are at different places. Deck screws are better than nails and you sink them just a little bit. In putting on sealer or protection it should be UV protective. It comes in 1 or 5 gallon and you roll it on. Do 2 coats. I once tried ';waterseal'; but that was not satisfactory to me. The coating I used was not clear when put on but a bit yellowed- only slightly but it dried clear. Wish I could remember the name but it was 3 initials. Need to recoat every few years after power washing. With a pool you may want to do more often.

Although I have never been a 'professional' [got paid for my work] deck builder, I have built, or helped build, a couple of dozen decks over the last 40 years.





We have always used the match up / drill a hole / bolt together method, and have never had any negative incidents [sag or collapse] occur.





A couple of the 'decks' were actually multi-shelf shelving units in one car space in two car garages. These were for the very high density, thus heavy, storage all the furnature from a full two-bedroom apartment.





We used 1/4x20 carriage bolts with washhers [for spreading stress], 4x4 [nominal, actually 3 1/2 x 3 1/3] posts, 2x6 perimeter beams and mid-point beams, and 1/2 inch plywood [for interior 'decks'] for the decking.





For exterior decks we used treated timber and lumber for the posts, beams and deck surface. The carriage bolts and washers were galvanized, and for the exterior decks we used 'deck screws' with protective coating for treated lumber. To tie down the plywood for interior decking we just used ordinary 'drywall' screws.





The very heavy items, like refrigerators, range/ovens. dishwashers and such were set on pallets on the concrete garage floor, but the next two deck layers up were crammed solid with ALL other furniture, lamps, etc., etc.





Of all the ';decks'; in which I've participated in the construction, there has never been any kind of failure using the bolting method.





The only reason I can think of for using the notching technique would be for esthetic [appearance] where the joints would be exposed to view.





I suggest using the bolt method as it will save an enourmous amount of time and effort, and unless you are well experienced in the notching method, you will have a lot of loosely fitting, sloppy looking, and WEAK joints.

Building 60 gal tank advice needed?

I am converting my parents old 1985 Mitsubishi 36'; oak TV into a fish tank. I am trying to figure out what thickness glass I will need, the front and back will be 33';W x 26';H and it will be 16'; deep. Since it will be so tall, will I need to go up to 1/2'; glass or should 3/8'; do the trick?


I was also considering getting one sheet of 1/2'; for the front only, and finishing the rest in fiberglass for strength with a top layer of carbon fiber (since you can't really see the sides or back of the tank). I'm just not sure how this would effect the water in the tank. Would the epoxy resin be ok if I make sure it is fully cured before adding the water, or would a clear gel coat be better?Building 60 gal tank advice needed?
You really should go 1/2'; just because of the height (as soon as you went over 24'; you increased the need from 3/8';).


Fiberglass/carbon fiber sounds nice (but expensive and time consuming) and still needs to be sealed with an epoxy paint safe for potable water anyway... why not simply build it from marine grade plywood? Simpler to work with and can ';slide'; into the housing once the TV is gutted.

save your money and put in a good dual core CPU. spend the extra on a better GPU like a GTX 260 or a 4850 or better.





g-force is an nVidia brand and the 8800 is still a decent card but there are better out there.





if you use the 32bit Vista it will only see 3.25gig of the RAM, put in 3gig or get the 64bit OS.

DVD burner good, get a lite-on brand. even at $25 USD they are cheap enough to replace if they ever die.





1000W is over kill unless you plan on using GTX 290's in SLI with a quad core CPU and a half dozen hard drives. get a QUALITY PSU at around 750W.

I've spent the past few years of my gaming life on a Dell-Inspiron 1501, as you can imagine, this is not exactly an ideal machine. In fact, it's downright horrifying. Now, I am on the hunt for advice on just exactly what I should put into my new machine, my price range is 1200$-1500$, and I would like to build this custom style. You should be looking at a i7 with 6gb of triple channel memory and an Asus motherboard.

I have to agree with you on the Dells - I can't stand them anymore. Don't even get me started on the poor technical support line.





Anyways, for 1200 to 1500 dollars you can make a very powerful computer. Any computer over 1300 dollars, I would easily recommend an i7 based system - it's quite affordable these days at only 270 dollars and gives quite a bit of bang for the buck.





There's quite a bit you need to learn (don't worry, it's a lot of information, but it's not complicated at all).

some much to recommend, a case with adequate cooling, a descent PSU, a motherboard with more than one PCI-E slot in case you want to run multiple screens, and you can max out with the fastest ram that has heatsinks, a CPU that you can overclock ,not that i approve of overclocking, unless you know what your doing.Cooling can be chassis fans, water or mineral oil cooled, depends on you budget, if it is all to much suggest you buy or get someone to build it for you, software is another issue, games like directx 10 which is in alpha for XP so if you get directx 10 games you have to run Vista

Your motherboard can't run SLI. If you want to SLI you need an Nvidia-based nForce motherboard in order to run.

This is a very good budget build I must say. Just a few things that I recommend, based on the price range





- go back to newegg and try to get a DVD burner that is SATA. Im not saying that IDE is bad, just that SATA is newer technology and operates faster for like an extra 10 bucks AT MOST. You can even get lightscribe in there if you are lucky


- Instead of getting 8GB of RAM I would settle for 4 GB and use that money for a better graphics card. I know this because I have ran crysis with an identical system except one had 8GB and the other had 4GB. I couldnt tell the difference.


- as for the mobo, it is good to get a P45 mobo IF AND ONLY IF you going to run on a single graphics card. IF YOU PLAN ON USING MORE THAN ONE (crossfire or SLI) go for the x38/x48/x58 mobos. they offer full x16 lanes to both PCI slots whereas the P45 only offers x16 to one slot.





This may be something you overlooked but DO NOT FORGET TO BUY AN OPERATING SYSTEM!!! (Win XP, Vista or any of the others) BECAUSE THE HARD DRIVES DO NOT COME WITH THEM INSTALLED!!!!!!





and if you still decide to get the 8 GB of RAM you MUST get a 64-bit OS because a 32-bit OS will recognize only 4GB MAX!!!

Looks good...I have one of my builds in a Soprano case. I would be tempted to move up to the Q9550...or hunt around for a Q9450, like mine. Still, it looks like a good build.





What OEM HSF (Cooler) are you going to use? The stock Intel sucks! Look at an Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro.





I don't know a lot about British power grids, but it looks like the PSU could be better. The PCP%26amp;C Silencer 610W %26amp; 750W units are my favorites.

Building a garage need advice?

Thinking of building attached garage - what about basement windows?


I am thinking of building an attached garage. Our house is small and we do not have any windows in the basement to the front part of the house. If we build on the side we will be covering up two fairly large windows (which was some of the appeal to this house).





What are my options? I thought maybe we could have a skylight type area.. but not sure if this would work or if it is possible. Is it hard to put a window in the foundation towards the front of the house instead? We will be contacting a contractor in about 6 months to a year - but I just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts?!Building a garage need advice?
To put a basement window in you would need to cut out the appropriate sized hole in the block or poured wall. It's a dusty job if poured concrete, don't feel guilty about paying a company to do it.


If you are doing this, consider installing a larger window. As long as you are making a mess, go big. Make the rough opening about 4 inches wider and longer than the window, then frame that hole with treated lumber cut to fit, like a 2x10. Attach the lumber to the concrete, then you can install and trim a normal window in a conventional manner. Of course, you need to dig out on the outside and install a larger window well from metal or plastic corrugated material or even landscaping blocks. Dig deeper than you need to dig and try to connect a drain to your home's existing perimeter drains; either way, provide a rocky volume bottom for water to keep away from the bottom of the window.


If you don't have a code-approved egress window, this will fit the bill if appropriately sized and located - check with your building department for their requirements.Building a garage need advice?
Other than adding a couple egress windows elsewhere in the foundation one may wish to simply have a detached perhaps with a breezeway.These can be semi closed in.

In my state (NY), it is a code requirement to put fireproof drywall on the house side of the garage and ceiling, on attached garages. This is for your protection; your life depends on it!





You would need to check with your building code enforcement officer in your city/town/ village to get proper info.


When you hire a contractor, make sure you ask for their insurance card, and check with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) to make sure they are an upstanding company. My friend just hired someone (bogus company) he found in the local paper. Needless to say he got ripped off. The state attorney general鈥檚 office is now very interested in the bogus company. Also, get a minimum of three estimates. If two are in line and one is out of line.... ask why. Sometimes the cheaper estimate doesn鈥檛 do the same work or use the proper materials. COMPARE APPLES TO APPLES not to Oranges.





As an added note, make sure they get building permits to do the work, and see the permit yourself, just don鈥檛 take their word for it. I鈥檝e seen Code Enforcement Officers make people open every wall to inspect the various stages. This is where you need to contact the building dept., and ask what they require and what stages of construction they need to inspect, DO NOT rely the builders word.





As for putting a window in the foundation, it鈥檚 not hard if you know what you鈥檙e doing. Again, get estimates and check with the building dept., for the rules and regs. Just like above!

The New York Historical Society has a fantastic Library and also lots of information about the history of NYC in general. It is located on 77th and CPW directly across the street from the Museum of Natural History. They have things and information going back to colonial days when the city was basically just downtown and uptown was undeveloped.
