Building a 10ft Longcat, i'd like it to be quite strong so any advice on materials to use would help alot :]

wire mesh with fiberglass is good. But you will need an internal armature to support its weight. The most sturdy will be welded steel. If you can weld you can find scraps to use (e.g. scrap yard, or if you go to a place which sells steel ask for cutoffs). Next option is wood. Or you could use styrofoam (the pink carvable kind) as a core. Laminate sheets together to achieve the thickness you want.


If you need it cheaper than fiberglass papermache is another option. It won't be quite as sturdy though. You can also put plaster on top and work on the plaster.
