Can someone give me advice on building muscle i.e biceps?

basically i fancy getting nice big biceps so i bort myself some dumbells and barbells. when i use the curl method, and realy pump it up, the only muscle that is pumped is a small muscle inbetween the fist and elbow :S im oviously doing something wrong, the bicep feels no pain after a workout. any thought people?

If you position your elbows against your stomach and do curls with weight, it should give your biceps a good workout.





If you do push ups, move your hands close together. This will work your arms much harder than if your hands are further apart (this works the chest).

I use dumbbells to curl instead of the bar. I feel you can target each bicep better if you curl a dumbbell. Do concentration curls and hold the dumbbell for at least 2 seconds when you curl up and remember to flex the bicep hard while holding it in this position. Then slowly lower the dumbbell to the starting position.





Be creative when doing your curls, like do them on an incline bench or bend forward at the waist and curl the weights.
JACK M is right, the muscle your talking about is your forearms, and it's worked by moving your wrists up and down. to do a proper curl, you need to keep your wrists locked
Keep your wrists straight, and higher weight, lower reps. Try standing up, or sitting on the edge of something with the working arm resting on your knee.
Take Steroids
You want to get big? Squat, Deadlift, Bench press. You only need to hit your biceps once a week. Make it short and sweet. Hit them hard so you feel a nice burn. Also, you can try the stripping method, 21s, I-go-you-go (if you have a partner), etc.
