Does anybody have any advice on building a cabin?

My fiance and I live on his parents farm, currently in a camper trailer that we pushed into an old Hog Confinment Shed. This spring we will be building a small cabin on the edge of his parents property so that we can be on the farm to help out, but yet we don't have to depend on them for things like the bathroom/shower and kitchen.

We have already contacted the county we live in and on a farm it is legal to build a second home on the premisis if the person occupying it works on the farm. So legally we can do this, the only thing is that we need is to comply with sewer regulations.

I was just wondering if anybody could throw out some good websites on eco friendly building? Or some thrifty, money saving ideas? Anything to help me out would we wonderful!

Thanks!Does anybody have any advice on building a cabin?
sure, don't. Cabins take lots of maintenance and are drafty in most cases. Try a passive solar home.Does anybody have any advice on building a cabin?
How about a pole barn? Looks like a barn on the outside and you can make it anyway you want on the inside.
I'd look into United Built Homes - they have a cute cabin, they put up the outside and finish it as much (or as little) as you like on the interior.

On a farm you may be able to get away with a septic system but you will want it well away from a well (if that is your water source) and you will need a perk test done first.
