Advice on building a pation bench?

I am looking to build a square patio with pavers, outlined by benches on 2 ends. What I would like to do is build a short pillar at each corner and use a cedar board as the seating surface (probably 2x12x12'). Looking to use pavers to create the pillar as well. This board would rest on the pillar but would still have an additional 2 pavers and a top cap.

I'm sure I will have to mortar, but how will that work with the wood? Should I seal the wood before? How large of a paver should I use for the pillars? Is a 12'; board wide enough to sit on? Any other advice would be appreciated!Advice on building a pation bench?
You can double seal the piece of wood before (so everything will be protected )then put block brick, it comes in different colors, build the column bricks then put galvanized metal with holes inside the mortar to secure the wood with bolts and it'll be easier to replace in case it breaks (better than putting the piece of wood inside )and then i'd fill the inside of the brick with concrete to make sure that the brick mortar wont brake with the vibrations of the wood after that i would seal everything with a strong weatherproof sealer, good luck
