Building Gaming PC Advice?

Alright, I have a total of 320$ and I am looking to get a new Motherboard and a new (intel) Processor to help me build a gaming computer from my parent's old computer. I have a computer case, 200+ gb hard drive, a decent graphics card, and 2x2gb RAM. The problem is I don't know a thing about motherboards and the like. Any suggestions?Building Gaming PC Advice?
Well, for starters... the total amount of money alloted for the project isn't even close to sufficent for building an adequite gaming computer. You'll need a new motherboard and a case that goes hand in hand, as well as a CPU that fits the type of motherboard that you get. It starts to get pricey very fast for a good gaming computer.

My advice for you is that if you've never done it before that you purchase a completely put together PC and just exchange parts out (Graphics wise) and also make sure it has expandable RAM (Preferably expandable to 8 gigs or so).

If you've messed with the inside of computers before and you just want a project then by all means you can slowly piece together a monster of a gaming computer (Make sure it's less than a year or you'll be angered by the amount of advancements in computers and realizing your now 'gaming' computer is on the same level as a regular PC).

Anyways, whatever you choose to do, I hope the best for ya!

Hopefully that answered your question.

If you are shopping for a motherboard and processor only then might I suggest Newegg.com

Here is a combo deal for less than $300

It's actually sold as a combo so you're guaranteed compatibility.
Well, first you are going to want to find out what slot the video card requires.

Older computers use AGP, newer computers use PCI-express. If that older card is AGP then you are not going to find a motherboard that supports a fast enough CPU for it to be a worthwhile upgrade.

I would suggest you go with AMD if you are trying to save a little money. Their CPU's are plenty fast, and a good amount cheaper than Intel.
You should look at newegg.com under mother boards...Intel ...top sellers. you'll find they run over $200.00 for a good one. CPU...well that's another thing..you may not need a Quad core but do look at them they usually go for over $200.00 As decent a graphics card that you may have now i'm sure its not a good hi end one..that you would need to play some of the newer games. They are usually over $200.00. That brings up the need for a hi wattage PSU, they too can easily run over $200.00

Building a ';gamer'; is a bit more expensive than just a good general machine! Look at newegg to get an idea of prices, they give the best service, fastest delivery, and mostly the lowest prices!
Try bringing it to PC World and ask the staff to help you ?

Or you can sell the computer stuff you have now and buy a gaming PC? But keep the Monitor (screen) if its a good one because these cost alot
you need to go a little higher with the money
