Building Maintenance Advice?

I am currently enrolled in a Building Maintenance course (in CET). I just finished Electrician and am moving on to Plumbing and then to Carpentry.

Even though I am learning a lot I still feel like there are some things that are being left out.

Does anybody have any good pointers as far as things I need to know when I go onto the field? Things they don't teach you in school.Building Maintenance Advice?
The best way to get this information is to hang around or work with people who are experienced in your field. You can't get this from a few minutes, this is why experience is so valuable in any job that you apply for. Most of the things you will learn in life will be from trial and error. But when you are on the job and you have a supervisor with experience this is where you will learn a lot. Don't worry about your abilities. You are likely a very good problem solver. If you can, why not look for some tips and tricks books in the library? Reading, other than theory or text books, is a good way to learn new things.Building Maintenance Advice?
hi mario ..been a builder for over 40 years ..learn new things every week !..most important that you remember what you learn ..too easy to forget ..good tip on plumbing ..if you get an airlock on the hot water system ..they are frequent ..connect cold tap of washing machine to hot and turn on ..this will blow air out of expansion pipe
My best advice would be, ';don't over complicate things'; If it is not broke, then don't fix it. Over time you will learn little tricks and tips. But that is something that comes with time. Don't be ashamed of being green, we are all green at some point or another.
