Building PC Advice Sought please?

Hi I am going to make a PC System and looking for some advice

My Main requirements is a motherboard that has decent connectivty and has to have onboard IDE %26amp; SATA

my current choice is this motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H 780G Socket AM2+ onboard VGA 8 channel audio mATX Motherboard

and this processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Socket AM2 2.6GHz Energy Efficient L2 1MB (2x512KB) Cache

I want to stick to GIgabyte Motherboard - is there a newer version of this board, and is the processor choice a good one based on the price (拢65)

Very good choice of parts! Yes that is a perfectly great board and a perfectly great cpu. Although, Intel has faster processers, for the price/Ghz ratio, that is fine.

I have heard great stuff about the integrated HDMI-capable video card.

I have a gigabyte board and it works fine even after a short caused by myself.Building PC Advice Sought please?
No, don't use that motherboard with that processor! The AM2+ (note, the ';+';) means QUAD CORE. The AMD X2 is a dual core, with a different pin config.

The AM2+ motherboard is designed for QUAD CORE processors only.

So, either look for an AM2 motherboard (without the ';+';) or bump up to a Quad Core AMD processor if you want an AM2+ motherboard.
sorry to say but that would be a very weak computer. if you wanna go for a double processor do for something like intel pentium d. twin processor and you can have it pushing about 3.4ghz for the price of 拢65. although for about an extra 20 it would be pumping at 4.0ghz and is actually faster than a pentium intel duo with nano seconds running at 60 and doesn't bottle neck as much. is ideal for gaming and handing a powerful graphics card. i got a nvida 512mb ddr3 card and it is absoulutely awesome. also its ideal for HD gaming
good for you dude.. but whats the question?
